Phonak Audéo EON Evidence
What does the research show about Phonak Audéo EON?
Phonak Audéo EON is supported by technical measurements and clinical study findings showing benefits for speech understanding in noise, listening comfort, wind performance, and natural sound quality. Key evidence focuses on Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0, AutoSense OS AI™ 8.0 and WindBlock 2.0.
Spheric Speech Clarity™ 3.0
Phonak Audéo EON Sphere outperforms four other hearing aids for clear speech in loud noise
What is Spheric Speech Clarity?
Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 uses DNN-based denoising to enhance speech relative to background noise in real time - complementing microphone directionality options to support clearer speech in complex listening situations.
What did the measurement show?
Technical measurements showed that Phonak Audéo EON Sphere delivers up to 10 dB SNR benefit relative to omnidirectional mode and outperforms four other hearing aids tested in realistic loud-noise scenes.1*
Why does this matter for my client?
- Phonak Audéo EON Sphere meets the client’s #1 listening need of clear speech in noise with unprecedented SNR benefit.
- The combination of Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 and microphone directionality options in Phonak Target and myPhonak enables individualized settings that balance spatial access and front focus to optimize the client’s listening needs when understanding speech in loud noise.1
Speech intelligibility index (SII) weighted signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) improvements in dB with respect to the omnidirectional microphone mode for Phonak technologies averaged across three realistic scenes, including a café scene, dinner party scene and food court scene. Results are presented for a fully occluded coupling and for the better ear. The speech signal was always presented from 0° azimuth.
AutoSense OS™ AI 8.0
A more natural listening experience for speech in loud noise
What is AutoSense OS AI 8.0?
AutoSense OS is an innovative machine learning (ML) algorithm designed to enhance the listening experience for hearing aid users by accurately identifying acoustic scenarios.
What is new in AutoSense OS AI 8.0?
A new hysteresis effect in AutoSense OS AI 8.0 helps reduce program switching when noise levels briefly fluctuate. This keeps the Speech in Loud Noise program active for longer, so speech-enhancing features such as Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 or StereoZoom 2.0 can stay active more consistently.2
What did the measurement show?
In a recorded lunchtime scenario, AutoSense OS AI 8.0 delivered 20% more activation of the Speech in Loud Noise program compared with AutoSense OS AI 7.0.2
Why does this matter for my client?
- Speech-enhancing features, that are proven to improve speech understanding and reduce listening effort, stay active for longer in noisy conversations.
- This supports a more natural listening experience2 in everyday noisy places, such as restaurants, where sound levels can fluctuate.

WindBlock 2.0
Enhancing outdoor communication
What is WindBlock 2.0?
WindBlock is a digital signal processing feature in Phonak hearing aids designed to detect and suppress wind noise to improve speech understanding in windy environments.
What is new in WindBlock 2.0?
Building upon our highly reliable wind noise detector, WindBlock 2.0 delivers improved target sound transparency while continuing to effectively attenuate low-frequency wind noise.5
What did the measurement show?
WindBlock 2.0 was evaluated using the Hagerman and Olofsson phase-inversion method, which is widely considered a gold-standard approach for separating speech and noise at the output of a hearing aid.
For the test, wind noise was recorded with Phonak Audéo EON RIC microphone satellites placed on a KEMAR mannequin in a wind tunnel, then combined with speech presented from 60°. This controlled setup made it possible to calculate signal-to-noise ratio improvement under realistic and repeatable outdoor listening conditions.
Why does this matter for my client?
- The profile of hearing aid users is evolving, drawing a younger, more diverse population who place greater emphasis on hearing well in dynamic, mobile environments.
- WindBlock 2.0 provides up to 50dB of wind noise reduction and up to 30dB of SNR improvement, leading to improved signal transparency.5

Hearing confidently in wind: WindBlock 2.0 delivers comfort, natural sound quality and clearer speech
Study design
A PARC Canada study with 19 subjects with moderately-severe hearing loss compared WindBlock 2.0 with WindBlock 1.0 across different wind speeds, wind directions, and listening scenarios.6
Why does this matter for my client?
Participants overwhelmingly preferred WindBlock 2.0 for overall sound quality, listening comfort, reduced listening effort, naturalness, and speech clarity**
