How to pair and connect rechargeable hearing aids to the myPhonak app on an Android™ smartphone
To pair your rechargeable Phonak hearing aids with myPhonak on your Android smartphone, follow these steps:
- Download the myPhonak app from the Play Store: Go to the Play Store icon, type myPhonak in the Search bar and tap on "Install" to install it on your phone.
- Turn on Bluetooth® in Settings > Bluetooth to allow myPhonak to connect to your hearing aids. In Samsung phones, you can turn Bluetooth on under Settings > Connections> Bluetooth.
- For the initial setup of the app Location Services must be enabled on the smartphone. Open Settings, tap on Location (or Security & Location on older devices), and then ensure the Location toggle is turned On.
- Tap on the myPhonak app icon to open it.
- Follow or skip the tour. After completing the Privacy and Usage data sections, and after choosing your residency (US or not), you can proceed with pairing.
- When you reach the Home section, tap "Pair hearing aids".
- Tap on "Allow" to allow the app to search, connect to and determine the position of nearby devices.
- The app provides you instructions for pairing depending on the type of your hearing aids (rechargeable or with replaceable batteries). Follow the instructions to enable your rechargeable hearing aids to get into pairing mode* for 3 minutes. This will make them discoverable by the app.
- Tap Continue when in pairing mode*. The app is now searching for your hearing aid(s). If you wear two hearing aids, wait until both appear on the screen.
- If only one or none appears, tap "I don’t see my devices" at the bottom of the screen for help.
- Once your devices are detected, tap the green "Pair" button.
- Bluetooth pairing request for each hearing aid will appear on the phone screen. Tap "Pair". (The Bluetooth pairing request might not appear in the foreground of the app. Instead, it may show up in the phone's Notifications list).
Pairing is complete. Your hearing aids are now successfully paired to the app.
If you have Virto R Infinio hearing aids, once you have paired them to myPhonak the audio streaming and phone calls functionality will be automatically enabled.
For earlier generations of hearing aids, an additional pairing step is required for phone calls and streaming. After pairing your devices with the app, you’ll see an option labeled “See instructions” (or “Optional settings” in older app versions). Tap it to view the steps for setting up call and streaming functionality.

*Bluetooth® Pairing Mode:
With rechargeable hearing aids, you can enter Bluetooth pairing mode in one of two ways:
- Turn your hearing aids off and then on using the charger. Place your hearing aids in the charger for a few seconds, then remove them (ensure the charger is connected to power or has sufficient charge if it has a built-in battery).
- Turn your hearing aids off and then on using the buttons on each device. Press the lower part of the button until your hearing aid blinks red. Then press the button again until it blinks green.
In both cases, wait until the hearing aids blink green, then tap ‘Continue’ on the app screen.
