What do I do when my hearing aid sounds quieter than usual / no sound?

Take your hearing aid out of your ear and cup it in your hand. You should hear whistling when it’s working. Review the cleaning instructions from your hearing healthcare provider or your user guide and make sure your hearing aid is clean of wax, debris and visible moisture if you use an earmold. 

Replace your battery with a fresh battery, making sure that you have inserted it properly in the hearing instrument. If you are still experiencing difficulty, please contact your hearing healthcare professional for support. If you do not have a hearing healthcare professional, please use this link to locate a Phonak provider in your area. 

What should I do if I think I am using batteries too quickly? 

Insert a new battery, make a note on your calendar of today’s date, and wear the hearing instrument until the battery dies. If when you track the battery life you are still concerned, please contact your hearing healthcare professional for help and advice. 

How long can I store my batteries? Do they discharge themselves at some point?

Hearing aid batteries typically work using zinc and oxygen.The sticker on the battery preserves the freshness of the battery, and as soon as you remove it the battery becomes fully active after approximately 2 minutes. Do not remove the sticker until you are ready to use the battery.

What do I do if I hear crackling or buzzing noises?

What do I do if my hearing aid whistles?

First check to confirm that your hearing aid is securely placed in your ear. If you have a hearing instrument with an earmold, check the tubing to make sure there are no holes. If the problem persists, please consult with your hearing care professional for help and advice.

What do I do if I experience pain or inflammation in my ears?

Remove the hearing aid and consult with your hearing care professional or physician.
