What hearing aid should be selected from the list on the mobile phone?

Phonak hearing aids use multiple applications of Bluetooth® for mobile devices (Bluetooth Classic Audio for hands-free calls and streaming audio, and Bluetooth Low Energy for connecting to myPhonak. Depending on the model of your hearing aids and whether you are using one or two devices, you may see up to three Phonak hearing aids listed in your Bluetooth menu.

For Phonak Virto R Infinio hearing aids:

If you wear two hearing aids and your hearing aids have been paired to myPhonak, you will see two hearing aid entries (or items) in your Bluetooth menu:

  • R-Phonak hearing aid for the right device
  • L-Phonak hearing aid for the left device

Alternatively, your hearing care professional may have customized the names to something unique for you.

If you wear one hearing aid, then you see only one of them in your Bluetooth menu. Either the L (left) or R (right).

If you notice that one or both of hearing aids are not connected, while you see ''Connected'' on your Bluetooth menu, just tap on the item to initiate the connection again. This might happen due to a system error.

For earlier generations of Phonak hearing aids:

If you wear two hearing aids where your hearing aids have been paired to the myPhonak app, and you have paired them also to your Phone for calls and streaming - you will see three hearing aid entries (or items) in your Bluetooth menu:

  • R-Phonak or L-Phonak. This is the hearing aid connected to the phone via Bluetooth Classic for streaming and calls. It is normal to be only one, and it can be set either as right (R) or left (L) by your hearing care professional.
  • LE_R- Phonak for connecting to the app
  • LE_L- Phonak for connecting to the app

Alternatively, your hearing care professional may have customized the names to something unique for you.

If you wear one hearing aid, e.g., a right one, then you see two entries (items) in your Bluetooth menu:

  • R-Phonak for streaming and calls
  • LE_R- Phonak for connecting to the app

Android™ phones:

The two Bluetooth devices LE_R- Phonak and LE_L- Phonak are for the myPhonak app. They connect automatically when the user starts using the app. Never delete these as this would disable communication between the app and the hearing aids.

iPhone®:

The Bluetooth devices LE_R-Phonak and LE_L-Phonak displayed as “Not Connected” are connected to the myPhonak app. They will automatically connect when the app is opened.
