Can I use a power bank (external battery) to charge my hearing aids?

Hearing aid batteries are charged with very low current draw. Most power banks read that low current draw as a signal that the connected device is fully charged and therefore, they do not charge, or stop charging after a few minutes.
Most power banks have an automatic power on/off function, meaning they shut down at low current draw to preserve its internal power reserves. Hearing aid batteries are charged with very low current draw when compared to, for example batteries of smartphones. Most power banks read this low current draw as a signal that the connected device is fully charged and therefore, they stop charging and switch off. This might result in a hearing aid being on while you expect it is being charged.

We recommend deactivating the “Auto-on” function to prevent the hearing aid from automatically switching on after the power bank switches off. This will help to prevent discharging hearing aids batteries even more.

Please follow the steps to activate / deactivate AUTO-ON.
1.    Open myPhonak app
2.    Tap on “Devices”
3.    Tap on “AUTO-ON”
4.    Enable / disable AUTO-ON by moving the slider.
