I am Matthew Hazlett and I’m in grade 10. I have profound hearing loss on my left side and a mild hearing loss on my right. When bedtime comes, I don’t have to worry about noise. I can sleep peacefully.
When I was 2½ years old, I got a cochlear implant and started hearing things on my right-hand side. But when students and the teacher started talking, I had difficulty hearing the teacher.
When I was in grade five, I got my first FM system. When I am using this, I can hear the teacher loud and clear.
When I first tested FM, my teacher went down to the hall and I stayed in the class. When she started talking and I heard her from all the way down the hall. When she said something, I wrote it on the chalk board and the class was surprised that I got it exactly right.
I hope deaf and hard of hearing people would use FM when the noisy problems come.
