FM with normal hearing

FM for children with normal hearing thresholds showing learning and communication difficulties in the classroom

Hearing and listening are the cornerstones of classroom learning. And yet, classroom situations – because of background noise, distance and in some cases even reverberation issues – turn out to be far from ideal to provide children with the best learning circumstances. It is known that noise affects learning for all children and the need for SNR enhancement technology has been raised by many already, even for children with normal hearing sensitivity.

Some children - such as children with Auditory Processing Disorders, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders, specific Learning Disabilities, Unilateral Hearing Loss, Pervasive Developmental Disorder and so on - are at a greater disadvantage and need an even clearer auditory signal to support optimal language processing and learning.

Studies have shown that, by providing these children with SNR enhancement technology complementary to existing therapy forms, they are able to perform better in the classroom.

EduLink is a miniaturized FM receiver that Phonak has developed specifically for children with normal hearing thresholds who have difficulties understanding language and learning in background noise and over distance. It ensures that important information reaches the ear as a priority and enables the child to hear the teacher’s voice at any time without difficulty – even in the most challenging listening situations. Its trendy design and open fitting guarantee optimal acceptance and practicality.

EduLink can be combined with every Phonak transmitters. For classroom use, Phonak typically recommends the Campus SX.

This section includes valuable and up-to-date information as well as international experiences on the use of an FM system, such as EduLink, as part of a comprehensive management approach.
