Phonak ‘Sounds of Life’ Photo Competition
Congratulations to everyone who entered – we received so many fantastic photos depicting ‘Sounds of Life’. With this competition, Phonak, as a hearing communications company, was aiming to raise awareness about the importance of hearing and how sound and being able to hear well adds richness and beauty to life. We received nearly 1600 entries and it was inspiring going through them all. Thanks to everyone who entered – watch this space for details on our 2012 photo competition!
Overall winner - Waves at the beach
Judges comments:The sound of the ocean can really be heard when viewing this photo, and the frothy foam felt. The composition of the moving foamy ocean, black wet sand and the stillness of the legs makes for a very visually stunning combination. Very well composed and technically excellent.

Judges comments: A dramatic and surreal interpretation of sound – whirling fairground noise can be imagined.Technically well achieved with a nice colour contrast.
Wildlife and Nature Category Winner - The circle of life (spawning time)

Judges comments: This is an unusual image and technically well achieved. The colour palette contrasts well and texture is richly expressed. Overall the image captures a moment in time and evokes the sound of rushing water.
Music and Dance Category Winner - Movement

Judges comments: The image relates well to idea of dance and music. Has a theatrical sense with excellent composition, and a nice use of dramatic colour contrast. A wonderfully creative interpretation of the subject.
International Culture and Travel Category Winner - Silence and seclusion in the desert
